Convention Tips

Tips For Attending Collector Conventions Or Trading Shows

Arrive early

Set your alarm early, plan your travel time and allow for traffic delays and other potential setbacks. You want to get there when it opens to make sure you have access to all the best items before they go.

Buy tickets in advance

First things first. Don’t waste your precious time waiting in lines – Skip the queue and walk straight in.

Take cash with you

Chances are you’ll be paying cash for any items – so make sure you get money out prior to the convention because ATM lines can be out of control.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes

You can count on doing a lot of walking around on hard surfaces – so comfortable sneakers are a must.

BYO backpack or suitcase

Don’t forget to bring something with you to store all your new purchases: there’s nothing worse than lugging around heavy bags all day.

Plan your movements

Study the program and create your must-see list of dealers. Plan out your route and locations of stands so you can maximise efficiency. Once you’ve visited the must-see dealers, then you can take a more leisurely approach and wander around.

Check prices online

While it can be easy to get caught up in the moment and excitement of finding that piece, try to keep your cool and check online at Hunter Collector before committing to anything!

Don’t be afraid to negotiate

If you have found a piece you want, never accept the first price. Always try for a lower price and negotiate with whoever is selling – after all, the worst they can say is “no”.
